Lou & Nic meet Kane in London, 7th July 2004

Well, where do we start? Wednesday 7th July 2004 brought your Resident Rock Chicks not just a 'Magic Moment' but plenty of 'Magic MomentS'!!

Apart from our excitement at the prospect of seeing Kane's 1st headline UK gig, we also had an invite to the after show party and so knew we would be in for an extra special night. We'd already met up with friends old and new outside the venue and were all braving the "traditional british summer" when late afternoon a taxi stopping outside the venue caught our eye. To our utter astonishment, who should pile out but Dennis, Dinand and Martijn!!! The band came straight over to us all and said their hellos with Dennis filming everyone on his video camera!! The band (minus Dion) happily chatted with fans for a few moments and then Dinand announced that he would try and get us all (about 10 of us) into soundcheck! The band waved goodbye and disappeared inside leaving us all to ponder over what had just happened. A few moments later and one of the band's crew re-appeared and told us to quietly follow him! We were led inside the venue and got to watch the soundcheck from the balcony (despite someone at the venue questioning why we were there and finding it hard to believe the band had invited us in!). It was a totally new experience for us and we felt very priveleged to be there. We got to see the guys practicing with plenty of very cool guitar solos from Dennis, and Martijn, Dion and Dinand working just as hard. Parts of "Hold On To The World" were played and it left us itching for the gig to begin! We ended up watching them for about an hour and then decided to leave of our own accord (we actually ended up missing "Fearless" which was a shame) as we were worried about returning to the queue outside. Thankfully everyone seemed to be aware of what had happened and we were able to re-join where we had left.

Of course the gig itself was amazing but you'll have to read our review (coming soon) to learn more about that!

After the show we went upstairs to the bar with Gina, Hannah, Donna, Sandra, Stacey, Paula and 2 competition winners and got ourselves some drinks. Martijn was the first to walk by and happily signed cd's for us and posed for a photo. We chatted with him for a while about their next gig and "Rain Down On Me" and we said how much we'd enjoyed the gig and he thanked us.

Martijn moved on and we were chatting amongst ourselves when Dennis came over and recognised us from our website! He gave us a kiss on each cheek and we thanked him for doing our interview. Dennis was signing stuff for us while chatting before posing for 3!!!! photos with us, checking all of them on our camera! He eventually had to move on and again we chatted amongst ourselves.

A while later and Dinand came over to our corner, chatted with Gina for a while and then went round shaking all of our hands. Dinand also signed our cd's whilst we chatted about the gig, their next gig and how much we wanted to see them again amongst other things. When asked if he minded having a photo with us he replied "of course" and even kindly let us re-take the pix as he'd shut his eyes in the first one!

Not long after that and Dennis returned for another chat about all sorts including thanking us for our help. We even jokingly blamed him for the bad weather for playing "Rain Down On Me" and he apologised!! lol Dennis shook our hands before popping off again and we thought that was it!

But no... Martijn walked past where we were sitting and came over and gave us "traditional Dutch kisses" (3 on alternate cheeks) before saying goodbye again!

Suddenly out of nowhere Dion appeared and we were introduced to him as helping to promote Kane in the UK and he thanked us for our work and chatted for a bit signing our cd's and posing for photos.

Dennis came over again to say goodbye and time for more "Dutch Kisses" before Dinand walked past to leave the party and waved at us and said goodbye. An absolutely amazing evening from start to finish. We knew the evening was going to be special but we had no idea just how special it would turn out to be. We already knew from seeing them support Maroon 5 that Kane are a bunch of extremely talented guys, but when you throw into the equation the fact that they're also lovely people you get something truly exceptional. If anyone deserves success it's these guys and we'll continue to do all we can to support them in their careers. Wednesday 7th July 2004 is a day we'll be reminiscing about for years to come!

We'd like to thank our Kane Krew buddies, BMG and of course the band themselves for our incredible "Magic Moment".

Meeting Kane in Amsterdam, Thursday 29th April 2004

When Lou & Nic asked me to write about my ‘magic moments’ from when I met Kane then I didn’t hesitate in saying yes because it gives me another excuse to talk about my awesome experience. I had met Dinand before in London and felt very lucky then to get a picture with him and the chance to talk to him. But going to Amsterdam for an awesome intimate concert, I just knew was going to be the best. I will try and keep this to purely just meeting the guys!

I got to meet Dennis first whilst I was queuing in the front just like being in UK lol. He had arrived and some girls came with me to introduce him and he was great. He gave a traditional ‘Dutch’ hug with the 3 kisses and I told him how pleased I was to finally meet him. He thanked me for my website I thanked him for my 15 mins of fame from mentioning my website on the official Kane site lol don’t ask me why I said that but I did!!! He had to get inside for a sound check, so I got 2 pictures with him; he signed CD covers for me and said that he hoped I enjoyed the show. Yes it was an ear to ear grin now on my face, who wouldn’t smile! Just after I had met Dennis, Hannah arrived with Paula and Paul from BMG so you can imagine firstly how excited I was for just meeting Dennis and then someone I knew to share it with.

Next up was Martijn, he arrived shortly after Dennis and again he thanked me the website and for being there, he signed my CD covers and I told him that he is now known in UK for his famous flowers and suns in his autographs. I thanked him for the message he sent me via Astrid and got 2 pictures with him as well, but he was late and needed to get in for the sound check so off he went and that was it for me. I was already on my way to cloud 9 and nothing was going to bring me down.

The concert was absolutely brilliant and I was in total awe. I got to see Kane in their own country in front of their own crowd and that was an experience in it’s self. They are one of those very few bands that can actually perform live and give you a show never to forget.

It was later on after the show that we decided to leave the after party and to go outside to see if we could catch the guys before they left and to get some air. With that Dion came out and I got to meet this really nice ‘crazy’ American. It was great that he spoke the same language lol I got a great picture with him and he signed my CD covers. He chatted for awhile and wished me a safe journey back home to the UK and hoped to see us soon in UK again. After awhile of chatting in the car park Dion then left and went home.

It was getting really late and Conny was thinking of going home but thought she would stay just a bit longer and so we decided to go into the bar of the hotel and as I was staying in that hotel it was ok to do so. But can you imagine my face to find the rest of the guys in the bar!!!! I was with other people as well and they all started talking but then Dennis came straight over to me and asked what I thought of the concert, and there was me thinking it was written all over my face lol I got more hugs and we chatted for awhile, then Martijn came over and started to chat. It was like I knew these guys already they were so cool and ‘normal’ if that makes sense and they was interested in what I had actually thought of the show.

It got a little mad with everyone chatting and taking pictures etc that at one point I stood back to take it all in when Dinand turned around and started talking to me. He again thanked me for the website and signed my CD covers to complete them. I then showed him the picture that I had with him from London and he signed that for me as well and actually remembered us stopping him. He asked what I thought of their performance in UK and told me that they will be back to UK. I told him I was really impressed with UK and Amsterdam performances. He said he felt it went well that night and being in that audience I knew it did. He was really sweet, but I have to be honest I was so up in the clouds that I can’t remember everything that was said!!! When everyone was asking for pictures with him, I asked if I could have one more, he was like sure and I got a hug too.

Well from that moment on, I got talking some more with Dennis, he has a brilliant sense of humour and we got talking about how he had announced my site on the official site and we were both doing the actions to GINA GINA GINA give it up for Gina!!! A funny sight to see I am sure!

And then a bit later on everyone was tired they all decided to it was time for them to leave so I said goodbyes to my new friends and hoped that they would come to UK when Kane did to see them again. I then got to say goodbye again to the guys and off I went to my room, with such fantastic memories of a fantastic day and one that I will cherish forever and a day.

For me Kane are there for their fans, they are there to share their music and passion and nothing is ever too much for them. They are really cool, appreciative people that will take time out for you. As long as you want them and their music, they will be there for you. KANE ROCKS!
